Thorsten Berg is a German politician who has served as the Mayor of Oberhausen since November 2025. Born in Gelsenkirchen in 1969, he was raised in Oberhausen and pursued a career in banking, eventually managing a large branch of the Stadtsparkasse Oberhausen. After unsuccessful bids in 2020, he was elected Mayor in 2025 as a candidate for the Social Democratic Party (SPD), ending a decade of CDU leadership in the city. He is married and resides in the Alstaden district.
