Toshikazu Tamura is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Hakusan in Ishikawa Prefecture. Born in 1957 in Kanazawa, he graduated from the Faculty of Education at Kanazawa University. Before entering politics, he had a long career in education, serving as a middle school principal and the director of the municipal education center, eventually becoming the Superintendent of Education for Hakusan in 2021. Following the death of the incumbent mayor in 2023, Tamura ran for office with broad support from various political parties and was elected in April 2023. He has pledged to continue the policies of the previous administration.
