Kentaro Uesugi is a Japanese politician currently serving as a member of the House of Representatives. Born in Chigasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture, he graduated from Waseda University and worked in the private sector before entering politics. He has served as Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs and is affiliated with the Liberal Democratic Party. Uesugi holds conservative political views, supporting constitutional reform, the strengthening of Japan's defense capabilities, and the inclusion of the Self-Defense Forces in Article 9 of the Constitution. He opposes the introduction of selective separate surnames for married couples and same-sex marriage. In 2024, he was involved in a political funding scandal regarding unreported party income, for which he received a warning from the party leadership.
