
Urmas Klaas

Urmas Klaas is an Estonian politician and historian who has served as the Mayor of Tartu since 2014. A member of the Estonian Reform Party, he previously served as a member of the Riigikogu, where he chaired the Economic Affairs Committee and the Committee of Education and Culture. Before entering politics, he worked as a lecturer at the University of Tartu and held various editorial roles at the newspaper Postimees. In addition to his mayoral duties, he is a Vice President of the European Committee of the Regions.
