Věra Palkovská

Věra Palkovská is a Czech politician and educator who has served as the Mayor of Třinec since 2006. A graduate of Palacký University Olomouc with a degree in natural sciences, she previously worked as a teacher of mathematics and chemistry at the Třinec Gymnasium. Her political career began in 1994 when she was elected to the Třinec city council, later serving as a councilor and deputy mayor. Since 2018, following Třinec's designation as a statutory city, she has held the title of Mayor (primátorka). She is known for leading the independent political movement 'Osobnosti pro Třinec' and has successfully defended her mandate in multiple consecutive municipal elections, most recently in 2022.
