Varvara Mitliagka

Varvara Mitliagka is a Greek politician and the current Mayor of Serres. Elected in October 2023 as an independent candidate, she became the first woman to hold the office in the city's history, officially assuming her duties in January 2024. Before entering politics, she worked as a lawyer. As mayor, she has focused on public health and municipal administration, notably declaring a state of emergency in 2025 to address water quality concerns in the region. She is a mother of two children.
