Volker Hatje

Volker Hatje is a German politician who served as the Mayor of Elmshorn from 2013 to 2025. An independent candidate, he was first elected in 2013 with 81.9 percent of the vote and was re-elected in 2019 with 67.7 percent, receiving support from both the CDU and SPD. Prior to his mayoral tenure, he worked in municipal administration for the Amt Horst and the city of Wedel, and served as a city councilor in Elmshorn from 2009 to 2013. He retired from public office at the end of 2025.
