Shintaro Watanabe is a Japanese politician currently serving as a member of the House of Representatives for the Tochigi 3rd district. Born in Nasukarasuyama, Tochigi, he graduated from Gakushuin University in 2016 and subsequently worked at Ashikaga Bank and as a staff member for the Tochigi Prefectural Governor's office. After attending the Matsushita Institute of Government and Management, he entered politics, initially running as an independent. In the 2026 general election, he successfully defeated the incumbent Liberal Democratic Party candidate to secure his first term in the Diet. Although he maintains his party registration with the Liberal Democratic Party, he ran as an independent candidate in the election.
