William Aird

William Aird is an Irish Fine Gael politician who has served as a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Laois constituency since the 2024 general election. Before his election to the Dáil, Aird had a long career in local government, serving on the Portlaoise Town Council from 1979 until its abolition in 2014 and as a member of the Laois County Council for the Portlaoise local electoral area from 1985 to 2024. A farmer by profession, he follows in the political footsteps of his grandfather, who was also a TD in the 1920s.
