A member of the Democrats 66 (D66) party, he previously held various local government roles, including serving as an alderman in Muiden and Hilversum, and as acting mayor in Oostzaan, Scherpenzeel, and Zutphen. Before his political career, Jaeger worked as a marketing manager and entrepreneur, notably co-owning a packaging company. He holds a degree in political science from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and has been involved in several cultural and commemorative organizations.
