Yuichi Yamada is a Japanese politician currently serving his third term as the Mayor of Shiroishi in Miyagi Prefecture. Born in 1975 in Shiroishi, he initially worked in his family's cleaning business after graduating from the Tokyo Cleaning School. He began his political career as a member of the Shiroishi City Council, serving three terms from 2007 to 2016. In 2016, he was first elected mayor with the support of the Liberal Democratic Party and Komeito, and he has since been re-elected twice, most recently in 2024. During his tenure, he has faced public scrutiny regarding his past attendance at events associated with the Universal Peace Federation.
