Yuji Ichikawa is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Nikaho City in Akita Prefecture. Born in the former town of Kisakata (now part of Nikaho), he graduated from the National Defense Academy of Japan. Before his election as mayor, he served as a member of the Kisakata town council and the Nikaho city council. Ichikawa was first elected mayor in 2017 and has since secured re-election, most recently winning a third term unopposed in 2025. His administration has focused on regional development, including the establishment of outdoor activity hubs to promote local tourism and economic growth.
