Takahiro Kurahara is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Tamana City in Kumamoto Prefecture. Born in Kumamoto City in 1965, he graduated from Kumamoto University of Commerce (now Kumamoto Gakuen University) in 1988. Before entering politics, he worked at the Kumamoto First Credit Union and later served as a representative director for an automotive maintenance company. He began his political career as a member of the Tamana City Council, serving three terms. After an unsuccessful bid for mayor in 2013, he was first elected as Mayor of Tamana in 2017 and has since secured re-election, most recently winning a third term in 2025.
