Yasir Naqvi

Yasir Naqvi is a Canadian politician serving as the Member of Parliament for Ottawa Centre since 2021. Born in Karachi, Pakistan, he immigrated to Canada as a teenager and later pursued a career in law. Before his federal election, Naqvi had a significant career in Ontario provincial politics, where he served as a Member of Provincial Parliament and held several cabinet positions, including Minister of Labour, Minister of Community Safety and Correctional Services, and Attorney General of Ontario. He is noted for his legislative work on human rights and justice reform, including the introduction of the Safe Access to Abortion Services Act. In 2023, he unsuccessfully campaigned for the leadership of the Ontario Liberal Party while maintaining his federal seat.
