Yoshifumi Itahara is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Tosa City in Kochi Prefecture. Born in Tosa City, he graduated from Kochi University and began his career as a civil servant at the Tosa City Hall, where he held positions such as Chief of the Planning and Coordination Division and Chief of the General Affairs Division. He was first elected mayor in 2007 and has since secured five consecutive terms, winning his most recent election in 2023. Throughout his tenure, Itahara has been vocal on national policy issues, notably criticizing the 2015 security-related legislation as a violation of constitutionalism.
