Profile

Yukiyoshi Yamano is a Japanese politician currently serving as the 21st Governor of Ishikawa Prefecture, having assumed office in March 2026. Prior to his governorship, he served as the Mayor of Kanazawa for three terms and as a member of the Kanazawa City Council for four terms. During his tenure as mayor, he was noted for his focus on education, including the adoption of specific history textbooks, and for implementing a partnership oath system for same-sex couples.
