Yumi Sato is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Nagakute, Aichi Prefecture. Born in Nagoya in 1978, she graduated from Nanzan University and worked in the insurance industry before entering local politics. She served four consecutive terms as a member of the Nagakute City Council starting in 2011, where she was known for actively scrutinizing municipal administration. In 2023, she was elected as the first female mayor in Aichi Prefecture since the enactment of the Local Autonomy Act in 1947. Her policy platform focuses on child-rearing support, including free medical care for children up to age 18, the development of new public facilities, and the enhancement of disaster prevention measures.
