Yutaka Ikeda is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Hofu in Yamaguchi Prefecture. Born in 1957 in Hofu, he graduated from Yamaguchi University and spent many years as a career official in the Yamaguchi Prefectural Government, eventually serving as a director in the General Planning Department and as the General Affairs Department head. He was first elected mayor in 2018 and has since secured re-election, most recently winning a third term in 2026. During his tenure, he has focused on local economic revitalization and implemented significant emergency support measures for businesses and families during the COVID-19 pandemic.
