Zaynub Akbar is a Welsh politician and former trampoline gymnast who has served as a Member of the Senedd for Caerdydd Ffynnon Taf since May 2026. Raised in challenging circumstances, she attended Howell's School on a bursary and represented Great Britain at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics. Akbar holds degrees in international relations and politics from Cardiff University and journalism from the University of Nottingham. Prior to her election, she worked as a journalist for ITV Cymru Wales and as a public affairs officer for Sport Wales.
