Zohran Mamdani

Zohran Kwame Mamdani is an American politician serving as the 112th mayor of New York City since January 2026. A member of the Democratic Party and the Democratic Socialists of America, he previously served as a member of the New York State Assembly representing the 36th district from 2021 to 2025. Before entering politics, Mamdani worked as a housing counselor and was active in the music industry as a rapper. His political platform focuses on progressive policies, including universal child care, rent stabilization, public safety reform, and the implementation of fare-free city buses.
