Zoltán Soós

Zoltán Soós is a Romanian politician and former mayor of Târgu Mureș. An ethnic Hungarian, he previously worked as an archaeologist and historian, serving as the director of the Mureș County Museum. Soós entered local politics as a member of the Democratic Alliance of Hungarians in Romania (UDMR) before running as an independent candidate. He was first elected mayor in 2020 and won a second term in 2024. In April 2025, he was suspended from his mayoral duties following a judicial order related to an investigation by the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA).
