Alok Sharma

Alok Sharma is a British politician and life peer who has served as a member of the House of Lords since 2024. Previously, he was the Member of Parliament for Reading West from 2010 to 2024. During his parliamentary career, he held several high-profile cabinet positions, including Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and Secretary of State for International Development. He is widely recognized for his role as President of the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26), where he led the negotiations for the Glasgow Climate Pact. A former chartered accountant, Sharma has focused his political career on economic policy, infrastructure development, and international climate action.
