Atsuko Matsumura is a Japanese politician and physician currently serving as the Mayor of Uji City in Kyoto Prefecture. Born in Kizu (now Kizugawa City), she graduated from Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine in 1983 and spent a decade working as a pediatrician. She later joined the Kyoto Prefectural government, where she held various administrative roles, including Director of the Health and Welfare Department. In 2020, she was elected as the first female mayor of Uji City and was subsequently re-elected in 2024. She holds office as an independent candidate, though she has received support from major political parties including the Liberal Democratic Party, the Constitutional Democratic Party, the Komeito, and the Democratic Party for the People.
