Berhanu Nega is an Ethiopian politician and economist who has served as the Minister of Education since 2021. A former academic and professor of economics at Bucknell University, he was a prominent figure in the Ethiopian opposition, founding the Ginbot 7 movement and later leading the Ethiopian Citizens for Social Justice (EZEMA) party. Throughout his career, he has been a vocal advocate for democracy and civil rights, having faced imprisonment and exile under previous administrations before returning to Ethiopia to join the government following political reforms in 2018.
