Robert Cortez Scott is an American politician and lawyer serving as the U.S. representative for Virginia's 3rd congressional district since 1993. A member of the Democratic Party, he is the first Filipino American to serve as a voting member of Congress and the first African American representative from Virginia since the Reconstruction era. Throughout his tenure, Scott has focused on progressive policies, including labor rights, minimum wage increases, and healthcare access. He previously served in the Virginia House of Delegates and the Senate of Virginia, and has held leadership roles such as chair of the House Education and Labor Committee.
