Previously, she served on the Surrey City Council from 2018 to 2022 and as a member of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia from 2001 to 2005, where she also held a cabinet role as Minister of State for Mental Health and Addiction Services. Her political career has been marked by her advocacy regarding municipal policing and her transition from the BC Liberal Party to founding the Surrey Connect political slate.
