Charles Onen is a Ugandan politician and former Catholic priest currently serving as the Member of Parliament for Gulu East constituency. Before entering politics, he served as the second curate of Holy Rosary Parish Catholic Church for eight years. His decision to run for office led to his suspension from priestly duties by the Bishop of Gulu Diocese for violating Canon Law regarding political involvement. Running as an independent candidate, Onen campaigned on a platform focused on community unity and the improvement of living standards, ultimately winning his seat in the 2021 general election. He currently serves on the Rules Committee of the Parliament of Uganda.
