Claire Young

Claire Young is a British Liberal Democrat politician serving as the Member of Parliament for Thornbury and Yate since 2024. Before entering national politics, she had a long career in the software industry, including roles at IBM, and served as a councillor on South Gloucestershire Council from 2007, eventually becoming its leader in 2023. A graduate of Cambridge and Oxford, Young has focused her political career on local education funding, support for children with special needs, and regional infrastructure improvements. She resigned from her council leadership position upon her election to Parliament to focus on her duties as an MP.
