Françoise De Smedt

Françoise De Smedt is a Belgian physicist and Marxist politician representing the Workers' Party of Belgium (PTB/PVDA). Born in Braine-le-Comte in 1975, she earned a master's degree in physical sciences from UCL in 1997 and worked for fifteen years as a physicist at the Erasmus Hospital in Anderlecht. Transitioning to full-time political work, she became a parliamentary attaché and subsequently entered the Parliament of the Brussels-Capital Region in December 2018, later serving as group leader for her party and participating in committees concerning housing, territorial development, and equal opportunities.
