Currently representing the North Cotswolds constituency, he previously held seats for Cirencester and Tewkesbury and The Cotswolds. Throughout his long parliamentary career, he has served as a Shadow Minister and assistant Chief Whip, and in September 2024, he was elected Chair of the Public Accounts Committee. A chartered surveyor by training, he has been a prominent backbencher with a long-standing interest in international trade and relations, particularly regarding China.
