Haruo Takagi is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Yamanashi City in Yamanashi Prefecture. Before entering municipal politics, he worked as the president of a gas and home renovation company. Takagi served two terms in the Yamanashi Prefectural Assembly starting in 2011. He was first elected mayor in 2017 following a scandal involving his predecessor, and he has since been re-elected, securing a third term in 2025. During his tenure, he has focused on administrative reform, including the cancellation of fraudulent staff appointments made under the previous administration.
