Hassan Yussuff is a Canadian politician and prominent labour leader who has served as a member of the Senate of Canada since 2021. Before his appointment to the Senate by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Yussuff held a distinguished career in the labour movement, notably serving as the president of the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC) from 2014 to 2021. As the first visible minority to lead the CLC, he was instrumental in advocating for the expansion of the Canada Pension Plan and the implementation of national pharmacare and dental care programs. Yussuff began his career as a heavy truck mechanic and rose through the ranks of the Canadian Auto Workers union, eventually becoming a influential voice in Canadian national politics.
