石井宏子

Hiroko Ishii is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Kimitsu, Chiba Prefecture. Born in Saitama in 1964, she began her career as a music teacher after graduating from Ueno Gakuen University. She entered politics in 2003, serving as a member of the Kimitsu City Council and later as a member of the Chiba Prefectural Assembly for three terms. Elected as Mayor of Kimitsu in 2018, she has focused on initiatives such as child-rearing support and municipal fiscal management, including salary reductions for city officials during the COVID-19 pandemic. She was re-elected for a second term in 2022.
