Hiroyasu Yamakawa is a Japanese politician and medical doctor currently serving as the Mayor of Gujo City, Gifu Prefecture. Born in 1959 in the former Takasu Village, he graduated from Gifu University's Faculty of Medicine and holds a doctorate in medicine. Before entering politics, he had a distinguished medical career, serving as the director of the Stroke Center at Gifu City Hospital and as a neurosurgery emergency department head at Gujo City Hospital. He also conducted research at the University of Zurich in Switzerland. As mayor, his policy platform focuses on three pillars of medical, welfare, and health enhancement, alongside strengthening regional disaster prevention and promoting local economic revitalization.
