Kenichi Hosoda is a Japanese politician and former bureaucrat currently serving as a member of the House of Representatives. A graduate of the University of Tokyo and Harvard Kennedy School, he previously served in the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (now METI). Throughout his career, he has held positions including State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry and Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. Hosoda is known for his work on energy policy, including the promotion of nuclear power, and his legislative efforts regarding the preservation of remote border islands. He was involved in the Liberal Democratic Party's political funding scandal, for which he received a reprimand, and was subsequently elected to the House of Representatives via the proportional representation block in 2026.
