Ingrid Visseren-Hamakers

Ingrid Visseren-Hamakers is a Dutch academic and politician currently serving as a member of the Senate of the Netherlands. A professor of environmental policy at Radboud University Nijmegen, she specializes in global environmental governance, biodiversity, and sustainability transitions. She previously served as a coordinating lead author for the IPBES global assessment report. Initially elected to the Senate in 2023 representing the Party for the Animals (PvdD), she became an independent senator in November 2025 following an internal party dispute.
