Javier Herrera Borunda is a Mexican politician currently serving as a Member of the Chamber of Deputies. Born in Cosamaloapan, Veracruz, he is the son of former Veracruz governor Fidel Herrera Beltrán. He began his political career at the age of 18 by joining the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), where he served as a counselor for the National Political Council. Herrera Borunda holds a law degree from the Universidad Iberoamericana and a master's degree in Political and Social Studies from the Facultad Libre de Derecho. Before his full-time political career, he worked as a lawyer specializing in commercial and financial law at the firm González Calvillo, S.C.
