John Benson

John Benson is an American politician and civil engineer serving as a member of the Vermont Senate for the Orange County district. Appointed by Governor Phil Scott in January 2026, he brings extensive professional experience to the legislature, having previously worked as a managing partner at the engineering firm DuBois & King. Recognized as Vermont's Engineer of the Year in 2018, Benson also served as the fire chief of Brookfield for 28 years and currently chairs the Brookfield Selectboard.
