Junichi Hayata is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Yamaga in Kumamoto Prefecture. Born in 1966, he began his political career as a member of the Kahoku Town Council before serving as a member of the Yamaga City Council and later as a member of the Kumamoto Prefectural Assembly for three terms. He was first elected Mayor of Yamaga in 2021 and secured a second term in 2025 after running unopposed. Throughout his career, he has focused on local development and regional revitalization initiatives under the banner of 'Yamaga Creation'.
