Kozo Shimada is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Omitama City in Ibaraki Prefecture, having been first elected to the position in April 2022 with the support of the Liberal Democratic Party and the Democratic Party for the People. Born in 1961 in the former Minori town, he began his political career as a member of the Minori Town Council in 1997. Over the following decades, he served as a member of the Omitama City Council and held a seat in the Ibaraki Prefectural Assembly for three terms. Throughout his career, he has focused on local governance and agricultural support, and he remains an active figure in regional politics.
