松嶋和子

Kazuko Matsushima is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Aso City in Kumamoto Prefecture. Born in Aso, she graduated from the Faculty of Law at Waseda University and previously worked as a municipal employee in Koshi City. In February 2025, she was elected as the sixth mayor of Aso, becoming the first female mayor in Kumamoto Prefecture after defeating the incumbent. Her political platform has focused on securing financial resources through the hometown tax donation system, as well as expanding support for child-rearing and elderly care services.
