Ken Skates is a Welsh Labour politician serving as the Interim Leader of Welsh Labour since May 2026. An alumnus of the University of Cambridge, he previously worked as a journalist before entering politics. Skates was first elected to the Senedd in 2011 representing Clwyd South and has held several ministerial positions, including Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Infrastructure and Skills. He currently represents the Fflint Wrecsam constituency and is known for his advocacy on mental health and regional economic policy.
