伊達憲太郎

Kentaro Date is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Sakaiminato in Tottori Prefecture. Born in Sakaiminato, he spent his early career as a municipal official, holding various administrative roles including director of the welfare and health department and general affairs department. He was first elected mayor in 2020 and secured a second term in 2024. His administration focuses on industrial promotion through local resources like fishing and tourism, environmental protection, and fiscal responsibility. Notably, he introduced a partnership oath system for same-sex couples in 2022, making Sakaiminato the first municipality in the San'in region to implement such a policy to promote inclusivity.
