Kinuyo Someya is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Shimada City in Shizuoka Prefecture. Born in Iwaki, Fukushima, she graduated from the Open University of Japan with a degree in human studies. Before entering politics, she held various public service roles, including serving as the chair of the Shimada City Board of Education and as a member of the city's administrative reform promotion committee. First elected as mayor in 2013, she became the second female mayor in Shizuoka Prefecture. She has since been re-elected multiple times, most recently securing her fourth term in 2025.
