Koichi Takeda is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Kushima, Miyazaki Prefecture, having assumed office in 2025. Born in 1963, he previously worked in the local retail sector, managing a family-owned supermarket and liquor business. His political career began with three terms as a member of the Kushima City Council, where he served as vice-chairman. He subsequently served three terms as a member of the Miyazaki Prefectural Assembly, focusing on agriculture, forestry, fisheries, and regional security. Takeda is also a practitioner of Kodokan Judo, holding a second-degree black belt.
