Kuninori Takechi is a Japanese politician currently serving his fourth term as the Mayor of Iyo City in Ehime Prefecture. Born in 1957 in Iyo, he previously worked in the traffic safety construction industry before entering politics. He served two terms as a member of the Iyo City Council starting in 2005. First elected mayor in 2013, he is known for his commitment to fiscal reform, notably reducing his own mayoral retirement bonus to a symbolic 22 yen in 2017 to fulfill a campaign promise. He continues to lead the city, having secured re-election in 2025.
