Mana Abdi is a Somali-American politician serving as a member of the Maine House of Representatives, representing District 95 in Lewiston. Born in Kenya to an ethnically Somali family, she immigrated to the United States as a refugee at age 11 and eventually settled in Maine. Abdi holds a bachelor's degree in political science and international and global studies from the University of Maine at Farmington. Before her election, she worked at the Office of Intercultural Education at Bates College. As a legislator, she serves on the Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee and has announced her candidacy for the Maine Senate.
