Manuel Cruz Rodríguez is a Spanish philosopher and politician serving as a member of the Senate of Spain. Born in Barcelona in 1951, he is a distinguished academic who has served as a Professor of Contemporary Philosophy at the University of Barcelona. Cruz entered national politics as a member of the Congress of Deputies representing Barcelona from 2016 to 2019 and later served as the 60th President of the Senate in 2019. A member of the Socialists' Party of Catalonia, he is known for his advocacy of a federalist approach to Spanish governance and his opposition to Catalan independence.
