María José García-Pelayo Jurado is a Spanish politician and member of the People's Party (PP). She currently serves as the Mayor of Jerez de la Frontera, a position she has held across three separate terms, and as a member of the Senate of Spain. Throughout her career, she has held various legislative roles, including serving in the Parliament of Andalusia and the Congress of Deputies. In 2023, she was inaugurated as the president of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP). A law graduate from the University of Cádiz, she has been a prominent figure in Andalusian politics since the 1990s.
