茂原正秀

Masahide Mohara is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Tomioka, Gunma Prefecture. Born in 1958 in Tomioka, he graduated from the Doshisha University Faculty of Commerce. Before entering politics, he managed a family-owned retail business and a private tutoring school, while also serving in local community and PTA leadership roles. He was first elected to the Tomioka City Council in 2002, where he served for six terms. In April 2026, he was elected as the Mayor of Tomioka after defeating the incumbent candidate.
